I was going to stay out of this and had hoped that this thread would blow over...but it seems to have gotten out-of-control. I thought we had learned months/years ago that attacking our fellow cachers in public is wrong, and may send the wrong message to those new to geocaching and to this listserv. Dan, I agree with you: "slamming someone in a public forum when the attacker is IN NO WAY related to the situation" is WRONG. I agree with you too about "PRIVATELY contacting someone and telling them your thoughts about their actions" being a much better means of handling a dispute or disagreement. It's possible Rush Harley was right when he wrote: "HAVE WE ALL LOST OUR MINDS!!! I'm REALLY WORRIED about our Sport/Hobby/Obsession! It seems to be under a little stress lately." Or maybe as EvilFish observed: "high gas prices and lack of actually going and finding (caches)" is finally taking its toll on some of us. Dan, I don't think anyone is going to ostracize you or anyone else for speaking their mind. We should all just take a deep breath and move on. Rand (RandMan) *********************************************************************** DAN, "LazyK" WROTE: No...What is "just plain WRONG!!!!" is slamming someone in a public forum when the attacker is IN NO WAY related to the situation. In my opinion, there is not a single thing wrong with PRIVATELY contacting someone and telling them your thoughts about their actions. Isn't it preferable to talk face-to-face rather than behind one another's backs? If people have a problem with what he has done TO THEM, then they should drop him a PRIVATE email letting him know that they feel HIS actions are inappropriate. Uninvolved parties telling him to go away, attacking him and copying his posts from totally different forums/sites are entirely uncalled for and show their true character. I should be quiet now. I wouldn't want to "be ostracized to the greatest extent possible by the community". LazyK - Dan ***********************************************************************
