A good point, and I want to amplify it. If you carry a firearm in your pack, in a holster under your jacket, etc, it is concealed, and you must have a CCW permit to legally carry it. Without a CCW, you must carry it so that either the firearm or its holster is in plain view. Also, at certain times and in certain places, you may want to have a hunting license even if you aren't hunting. If you are carrying a firearm, it may be assumed by someone that you are hunting, and you may find yourself having to convince someone that you aren't. Besides, buying a hunting or fishing license is one of the best ways to support conservation efforts.
