edge of northbound <st1:State w:st="on"><st1:place

w:st="on"><st1:address w:st="on">Gilbert Road</st1:address></st1:Street>
Tuesday morning.<BR><BR>The worker, a woman in her mid 40s, was along the
roadway for when the vehicle struck her around 7:15 a.m. <BR><BR>The woman
died on the scene as a result of trauma caused by the collision, the

lane was to remain closed as the investigation of the fatality continued,
officials said.<BR><BR>Northbound traffic was reported heavy as a result of
the accident, but southbound traffic did not seem to be affected. The woman
was an employee for a contract company called Anderson Maintenance that cleans
the edges of the roadway, the public safety department said. <BR><BR>Although
the transportation department is working on construction about ten miles north
of the accident near <st1:Street w:st="on"><st1:address w:st="on">Beeline
Highway</st1:address></st1:Street> and <st1:Street w:st="on"><st1:address
w:st="on">Bush Highway</st1:address></st1:Street>, the worker was not with the
transportation department, spokesperson Bill Pederson for the state Department
of Transportation said.<BR><BR>“The construction we had going on near the

Highway</st1:address></st1:Street> and <st1:Street w:st="on"><st1:address
w:st="on">Bush Highway</st1:address></st1:Street> had nothing to do with
