<DIV><SPAN class=656233304-06072006><FONT face=Arial size=2>I went to REI
this past weekend for a problem with my GPS. As the guy was helping
me, he shared his viewpoint on geocaching. He said that he goes out on
public lands a lot and anytime he sees a cache there, he throws it
away. My first thought was shock and alarm! I went home and
looked up the official rules, and he's right. They are not supposed to
be on forest service land, state land, etc. However, somehow this
message is not getting out to everyone who places caches. I told him
that it would be better if he contacted the owner and let them know that he
was removing their cache because it didn't follow the guidelines and he blew
me off and said that they know it's not supposed to be there. Rather
than have him sabbotage my GPS ;0) I just let that go and finished the
troubleshooting and left. It disturbed me that he would do such a
thing, though. I just thought I would bring it up to see if anyone has
any thoughts on what people should do if they find a cache on public lands
that shouldn't be there. Thanks!</FONT></SPAN></DIV>
