My grandfather was an Standard Oil distributor here in AZ and in CA. My mom
told me that when she was growing up, and even after she got married, she
had a gasoline allowance of so many gallons for free. When I was really
little we lived in Phoenix, but my grandfathers gas station was in Blythe.
I remember going on trips to Blythe every weekend so my parents could go get
their free tank of gas and to do the laundry. Some how my parents managed
to get enough gas to get them back to Phoenix, all of the local driving, and
then back to Blythe.

My grandfather didn't have a regular gas station, he provided service to the
farms around Blythe. So there were never gas lines at his station. I
remember the lines, I just don't remember ever waiting.

I really wish I had the same deal my mom did - never having to pay for gas.
