Hi Jake,

I'd be interested in ordering $25 in AZ GeoCoins, if it's not already too late...

Thanks,
David - AZTech

I've posted a few geocoin resources here on the listserv before, but I guess
it might be time to update some of the information.

The Team Fisur site has probably one of the best lists of almost every
Geocoin produced. They don't update the site with every new coin, but they
do a pretty good job considering all the coins that have come out lately.

Nurse Dave has done a pretty good job of keeping photos of his collection
too.

Clicking on some of the links on the Team Fisur site will lead you to the
websites where coins can still be purchased. The country coins like USA and
Canada are pretty easily obtained. South Africa was a first come first
served event. The Germany coins are only available to people that live in
the EU. I managed to find a way to get a few. The EU has a limited edition
coming out. I believe they have taken all the orders they are going to
accept.

Most of the state releases are limited time offers. Michigan is the only
state I can think of off hand that keeps an inventory in their online store.
They produce a seasonal coin that is a very limited run. I have the Spring
and Summer coins, but no Winter. With the popularity of this collection, I'm
not sure if I'll be able to get a Fall at this point, but I'm sure gonna
try.

Most state releases, and some personal coin releases, can be found in the
Geocaching forums. They will announce a coin, people with be given various
methods of requesting to be added to the buying list. Almost all ask for the
money up front to pay for die and minting fees. This is a common practice
and I am not familiar with an problems with it so far.

Some personal coins are minted and then made available on a trade only
condition. It's generally the best way to get ahold of personal coins as the
availability of state and country coins. Some personal coin traders are just
beginning and they do not have some of the older state coins, so deals are
still out there for trading the state and country coins.

The geocaching coin forums is at the following link.

Checking the region forums is another good place to find coin information.
The Arizona gecoin discussions were in the Southwest forum.

Another forum to watch is the trading post and
terracachers.org<http://terracachers.org>.
It's more of an annoucement board then a trading list. It does a pretty good
job of keeping you up to date with any large trades or sales.

There is also now a Geocoin club. It's a for profit venture that charges a
pretty high price for their coins. Some are actually worth it, in my
opinion, but not enough of them. It requires a subsription to join. You will
receive your first coin for the month after you subscribed. So subscribing
today, October 1st, will get you in for the November coin. They also have a
forum with their board, but it leaves alot to be desired. It seems to have
no traffic on it.

My new favorite coin website is cointracking.com <http://cointracking.com>.
I have posted my collection there, and have made a quite a few trades since
my listing there. They have quite a few features, and even more for paying
customers. If you have a coin coming out, they will make their site
available to you for web-based ordering for the fee of one of your coins.
That's a pretty good deal if you ask me. Their site is

My personal list can be found at

A few groups have formed recently for buying coins. It's generally done by
region to keep the shipping to a minimum. Coins are ordered by one person,
then distributed from that person to the rest of the group. I've debated
whether or not to see if there is any interest in forming an Arizona group.
I even went as far as to come up with a few name ideas. Grand Canyon State
Geocaching Coin Syndicate or (GCS)^2 was the best one so far.

There usually isn't much of a response to my posting in this matter, so I've
left it to posting information when questions are asked.

Discussions on the Arizona Geocoin are on the GC.com. Now it's become more
of a collection of requests. If you are interested in ordering some of the
AZ coins, please send a request to *azgeocoin at gmail.com
*
I hope you find this useful.
